WHY I INJECT:

I had a patient recently see me who had received filler and Neurotoxin from a different provider. She just felt like she no longer looked like herself and wanted to look more natural. I talked about the process of dissolving her old filler and waiting for a period of time for things to settle before we created a plan that would be more appropriate for her age and anatomy.

Often times it’s not the amount of filler that’s utilized —  it’s where it’s injected. When you strategically inject filler where there’s actual volume loss to address the aging process, the results are typically natural and authentic for a patient based on their anatomy. Injecting filler in areas to create structures that aren’t authentic to a patient usually looks fake and distorts a patient’s natural beauty.

This can also be said with Neurotoxins — too much Neurtoxin can cause compensatory muscle recruitment and can make facial expressions look unnatural and inorganic. I love that there is a movement within the aesthetic community to utilize Neurotoxins more preventatively instead of freezing the muscles. My goal when I inject Neurotoxins is to soften lines and to help prevent further deepening of wrinkles.

I always tell patients that it’s OK to start fresh. I’ve had to dissolve filler in my own lips for example, when I thought they no longer looked natural or when there was filler migration. It’s OK to start over to create a new blank canvas to achieve the goals that make you feel and look your best.
